Dr. Canham received his medical degree (MD) from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Following residency, Dr. Canham completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Houston Methodist Hospital where he received additional training in hip and knee replacement surgery, including the management of the most complex types of hip and knee reconstructions. Before relocating to Myrtle Beach, SC, he practiced for 5 years in Rochester, NY. There, he also served as Medical Director of the Joint Replacement Center at Rochester General Hospital.
Dr. Canham is a strong believer in evidence-based orthopaedics and is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, and his research has been presented at a number of national and international meetings. Dr. Canham is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He prides himself on providing each patient with the highest possible level of care by incorporating the most up-to-date practices in hip and knee reconstructive surgery and tailoring care to meet individual patient needs. He has special training and interests in direct anterior total hip replacement and robotic-assisted total knee replacement. As an expert in robotic-assisted knee replacement, he currently trains other surgeons how to use this technology. Dr. Canham’s practice also includes fixing failed or problematic hip and knee replacements.
